ISART’s Tech Game Art program prepares future 2D/3D Game Artists for the video game industry. Students acquire the skills of a versatile 2D-3D graphic artist able to work in each artistic specialty of a real-time 3D project.

They learn how to collaborate in real production conditions. In addition to exercising their creativity, they practice organizing and managing all the production stages of a video game project

Entry requirements for Game Designer degree

Candidates must hold a high school diploma and pass the school’s admissions test: presentation of a portfolio, interview and written tests.

It is possible to enter the Tech Game Art program in 2nd or 3rd year.

The candidate is required to have a general knowledge of 3D creation concepts (or have followed a course equivalent to the one proposed in 3D Art for example).

  • Graphic design of a video game project
  • Elaboration of the promotional elements of the game
  • Production of the graphic elements of a game
  • Quality control of the graphic elements of a game
  • Steering and management of a project to create the graphic universe of a game

Training Objectives

  • Develop creativity, critical thinking and artistic culture in order to better meet the needs of international studios.
  • Master all the stages of visual development of a video game (development of graphic charters, creation of characters and sets, integration and lighting in game engines).
  • Work in a team to understand the issues of other video game professions and the process of creating a game.
  • Develop knowledge of project management, management, communication to gain autonomy.

HOW AM I TAUGHT​

  • Theoretical and practical teaching: lectures, application exercises, practical work, tutorials
  • Production of projects: monitoring and supervision by teachers during the realization of projects (end of year project, final major project)

HOW AM I ASSESSED​

The school has set up a fair and objective evaluation system:

  • Continuous Assessment (case studies, role-playing, presentations, demonstrations)
  • Project presentations (end of year project, final major project) in front of a school or professional jury
  • Written and oral evaluations in English
  • Professional experience report and presentation

The first year of the program is full-time so students can prepare for their entry into the industry with confidence.

From the second year on, courses are taught at a work-study pace, with mandatory validation of professional experience (internships, short contracts, etc.).

The Tech Game Art program leads to the RNCP Level 7 title “Expert in 2D/3D digital design” – Master’s degree.

This Master’s degree validates the acquisition of business skills (hard skills), social skills (soft skills) and professional integration.

The program also leads to the Canadian AEC :

  • AEC NTL.2R 3D Artist for Film and Video Games
  • AEC NTL.1D Specialization 3D Artist for video games
